Detox Using A Diet - Does It Work?

Detox yourself? Is it possible? These are the questions The Daily Mail newspaper tested writes their reporter Rosalind Ryan.

As Rosalind says, "
Detox diets can last from anything from one weekend to a whole month and are designed to eliminate the build-up of waste toxins in your body and also boost the body's natural detoxification process so it can function more effectively in future."

Your body's kidneys, lungs, liver, skin and your white blood cells and your lymp system provide you with the ability to remove most toxins.

If you consume or are exposed to many toxins your body may store them until it can flush them out.

Some toxins, such as mercury and pesticides are stored in fat cells in your body and are bio-accumulative. That means they're not going to be removed by your body's natural detoxification process and as more go in the levels of toxins goes up.

A detox diet is thought to help you excerete some stored toxins.

If you drink around 2 litres of water each day it'll certainly help your kidneys flush toxins through more effectively.

It was noted that whilst mini-detox diets take a weekend a "normal" detox diet takes about 30 days.

The Daily Mail decided to ask for 4 volunteers to each try a different detox diet to check whether detox diets "deliver what they promise" and whether you can "really detox your body in less than a month."

Their results are in the Daily Mail's article. In summary the diets did make people feel more energetic but some of them required you to drink revolting liquids that would be difficult to continue for any great length of time.

Obviously we're unaware as to whether the detox diets removed toxins such as mercury or pesticides. However, as the diets are simply a different way of eating or drinking that's unlikely.

Get Dr. Sherry Rogers very readable book called "Detoxify or Die" and you'll note she goes into exactly how toxins get into the body and the best way to get rid of them.

At the Ultimate Sauna we've produced a free report showing different ways to detox ( as specalists in infrared saunas we also believe very strongly in the ability of infrared to detoxify you).

Now Water's Bad For You!

Antimony is the latest health scare I read about last week. The discovery was that antimony is leaching into bottled water, but even more revealing are the comments which readers left. It pains me to be reminded that there is so much misinformation being put out which makes it difficult for people to discover the truth. Some readers are desperately seeking FACTUAL and helpful guidance, whilst a few others prefer to bury their heads in the sand or even take the denial approach.

According to Dr. Sherry Rogers in her wonderful book with the mind-focusing title of "Detoxify or Die" the small quantity of toxins such as antimony are not likely to cause immediate harm. However the body is not able to remove these small quantities and they become stockpiled - and that is what causes the problem. It may not become apparent for perhaps 10, 20 or 30 years but then it may hit us big time - and then it is put down to "unsurprising, considering your age"!!

The truth is, in the 21st century we are living in a toxic environment, and in most cases the further we come away from the "natural" living of a few hundred years ago the more harm we are exposing ourselves to. Once the harm has set in then we need additional help and, again according to Dr. Sherry Rogers, the only way which is proven with before and after data to remove some of the worst of the man made toxins is through a Far Infrared Sauna (such as those supplied by the Ultimate sauna Company).

Far Infrared Offers Hope To Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Sufferers

Far Infrared Sauna Therapy (or thermal therapy) studies are being conducted all the time by the Japanese.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), sometimes called ME, is not simply tiredness and is something that mainstream doctors have really only relatively recently started to believe occurs in people.

The study I'm going to refer to was sent in by a lady who bought one of our saunas to help her with her own CFS condition.

The research has been conducted by Akinori Masudaa, Takashi Kiharab, Tsuyoshi Fukudomeb, Takuro Shinsatob, Shinichi Minagoeb and Chuwa Tei all from either Kagoshima University Hospital or Kagoshima University Graduate School of Medicine

The study title is:

The effects of repeated thermal therapy for two
patients with chronic fatigue syndrome
The study uses two cases to research the effects of a Far Infra Red Sauna treatment.

Case 1: 26 Year old patient unable to work for 3 years
The patient had a 3-year history of general fatigue, femoral myalgia, low-grade fever, and sleep disturbance. During that time treatment with prednisolone (PSL) failed.

These symptoms appeared after tonsillitis.

Her antinuclear antibody level was skyhigh.

Both she and another patient with CFS (case 2) had repeated thermal therapy using Far Infrared.

They found a dramatic improvement in their subjective symptoms.
And even better, they became socially rehabilitated 6 months after discharge.
Both patients recovered very well even when PSL medication was discontinued.
Good News For Poor Sleepers
The researchers also found that the Far-infrared sauna has a sleep-enhancing effect and both patients sleep scores improved.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Improvement Is Promising
They conclude that the symptoms of CFS patients dramatically improved after repeated thermal therapy using Far Infrared saunas.
They also conclude that more people need to be studied to check that the effects work across the different groups of people affected by CFS.
Anyone who'd like to read the whole paper simply email The Ultimate Sauna company with "study A" in the subject and we'll send you a PDF copy.

Using Vitamin Therapy to Reduce Toxins and Heavy Metals in Your Body

The "Clinical Guide to the Use of Vitamin C", compiled from the clinical experiences of Frederick R. Klenner, M.D by Lendon H. Smith, M.D notes the detailed work that shows how Vitamin C can improve and cure disease.

A particularly modern interest is the removal of Toxins and heavy metals.

I've quoted a section from the book below:

*****************************************************************************

Toxins & Heavy Metals

Heavy Metal Poisonings: Especially lead and mercury-are controlled with Vitamin C injections and oral intake. An intake of Vitamin C daily will protect animals-and by extrapolation, humans-from fatal doses of mercury. If a guinea pig needed 200 mg one day to protect it from an otherwise fatal dose of mercury, the human would need 14 grams daily. Smaller doses would be able to protect the body from smaller amounts of the toxin.

Lead Poisoning

: 350 mg of Vitamin C per one kg of body weight taken intramuscularly every two to four hours; recovery in less than 72 hours.

Dr. Klenner found that the amount of C used "in any case is the all important factor. In 28 years of research we have observed that 30 grams each day is critical in terms of response" regardless of age and weight. (Barbiturate intoxication, snake bite and viral encephalitis may require larger doses in some individuals.)

Carbon monoxide

(CO): poisoning is on the rise due to smoking and city living. CO interferes with oxygenation of tissues as it ties up hemoglobin. (The affinity of CO for hemoglobin is 300 times that of oxygen.) It would be especially dangerous in hearts already compromised by diseased coronary vessels; those vessels cannot dilate in times of extra need, e.g., CO poisoning. Smokers, and by inference, anyone exposed to CO or pollution should be taking extra Vitamin C. He points to the report [Pelletier] that shows when smokers quit, their "ascorbic level approaches that of the non-smoker." In acute CO poisoning: if 12 to 50 grams of Vitamin C is injected rapidly into the blood stream, it acts as an oxidizer and will "pull CO from hemoglobin to form carbon dioxide" which is easily exhaled. A burn victim should immediately receive a dose of 500 mg of C per kg of body weight intravenously. It will "neutralize the CO or smoke poisoning while at the same time it will prevent blood sludging which in the major factor in the development of third degree burns."

An accidental carbon monoxide poisoning was reversed in ten minutes with 12 grams of ascorbic acid in a 50 cc syringe using a twenty gauge needle. ("We employ a twenty-gauge needle when using a 50 cc syringe; a twenty-one gauge for a thirty-cc syringe, a twenty-two gauge for a twenty cc syringe and a twenty-three gauge needle for a ten cc syringe").

pesticides

Two boys were sprayed with pesticide, one received Vitamin C (10 grams) every eight hours and went home on the second day. The other boy only fluids; his skin showed a bad chemical burn; he died on the fifth day.

barbiturates

Vitamin C will reverse the shock and low blood pressure from barbiturates, muscarine, and formic acid. One suicidal patient ingested 2640 mg of barbiturate. Twelve grams was administered using a 50 cc syringe. In ten minutes the blood pressure rose from 60/0 to 100/60. 100 grams was given in the vein for three hours at which time the patient was awake. The use of large doses of C should be routine in these cases of chemical shock. "The needle used to give a syringeful of C was attached to a bottle of 5% dextrose in water with 50 grams of ascorbic acid. She received 125 grams of C. C not only assists with hepatic metabolism but also as a major diuretic, flushing these compounds out by way of the kidneys. Oxygen by nasal tube ran constantly."

Another patient had taken 2400 mg of Seconal plus para-aldehyde. She was awake after 42 grams of C was administered. The C was injected as fast as a twenty-gauge needle could carry the flow. Consequent doses of 75 grams intravenously and thirty grams of C taken orally over a period of 24 hours saved her life.

************************************************************************

There is some confusion as to whether Vitamin C taken in large doses is a good thing or not. Certainly Linus Pauling (Nobel prize winner) lived well into his 90's with the belief that high doses were good.

The main thing to note about toxins and heavy metals is that there is a slow accumulation of them in the body over time. Until eventually a tipping point is reached and disease symtoms are noted.

The Far Infrared Sauna (when used according to a proper process) will remove many of these toxins. So that there is less chance of build-up in your body and therefore no need for treatment.
