Did You Know These Studies Improved Heart Patients Symptoms?

The American College of Cardiology reports on the successful treatment of "impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and high cholesterol"

The study authored by Dr. Imamura, et.al ( Kagoshima Japan) followed 25 men who each had at least 1 of the risk factor above.

Each patient was treated in an Infrared Sauna for 15 minutes once a day for 2 weeks.

The results showed the following:

  • Significantly lowered blood pressure
  • Significant weight loss
  • Significantly lowered blood sugar
  • Significantly increased blood flow
  • Lowered cholesterol
  • Lowered triglycerides

A much later study by Miyamoto H, Kai H, Nakaura H, Osada K, Mizuta Y, Matsumoto A, Imaizumi T from the Third Department of Internal Medicine, Kurume University School of Medicine, Japan investigated the safety and efficacy of repeated use of infrared saunas by patients with chronic systolic heart failure.

Each patient in this study was treated in an Infrared Sauna once a day for 4 weeks.

After the 4 weeks it found that in 13 of the 15 patients studied symptoms had improved.

The reports conclusion was that using an Infrared Sauna was safe and improved symptoms and the chronic Congestive Heart Failure patients ability to tolerate exercise had improved too.

These studies and a previous post build up the strong evidence that demonstrates that the infrared sauna improves heart symptoms and the general quality of lives of patients too.

Cardiovascular Disease Helped By Far Infrared Therapy?

Cardiovascular Disease is one of the most common illnesses of the western world.

A study from 2004 in Cardiology in Review has looked at whether a far infrared sauna is an effective therapy for congestive heart failure.

The authors summarise their findings by saying that there are suggestions that the far infrared sauna "can be an effective therapeutic modality for patients with cardiovascular disease, especially for those with congestive heart failure."

That's good news.

However, as the authors point out double-blind studies would be difficult to evaluate in a sauna.

However, the story doesn't end there...

In the Japanese Circulation Journal a study was published, the same year.

The study used 30 patients with Chronic heart failure (CHF) and split them into two groups. One group was given daily infrared sauna therapy for two weeks. The control group was put into a room with a controlled temperature.

The study concluded that "Repeated sauna treatment improves ventricular arrhythmias in patients with CHF".

Looking at this research it certainly showed an infrared sauna helped the patients in the study.

Are You Affected By Oxidative Stress?

What Are Free Radicals?


Free radicals are created in the body in almost any cell action. They're also created as the body eliminates toxins.


Free radicals are unstable charged molecules that need to combine with another stable molecule. When the two combine they create a new stable molecule.

This is a natural process and your body's immune system uses them to destroy viruses and bacteria. So they're a required support for the rest of your body's defence mechanisms.

How Are Free Radicals Created?


The primary source of free radicals is after your body cells creation of energy. Some of the oxygen used in the process is not consumed. Consequently it becomes a free radical.

Most heavy metals absorbed into your body's tissues are charged and may also have the effect of creating free radicals in your body. These metals include everyday one such as aluminium, calcium and iron.
